What does it mean to be a Jew?
There is much debate in society about what it means to be a Jew
The Biblical Perspective on what is means to be a Jew
In one of my books a few months ago I discussed the Bible's view - put simply ROMANS 2:28-29 a spiritual Jew is not determined by one's nationality but by one's spiritual heritage - https://biblia.com/bible/esv/romans/2/28-29
The ethnic centric perspective of what it means to be a Jew
Jewishness is determined by ethnicity for most. This is a more narrow perspective on Jewishness. It may also incorporate the lifestyle of orthodox and non-orthodox ways of living, eating, observance of religious festivals and holidays etc.
The political perspective of 2021
The religious perspective on what it means to be a Jew can be determined by being born into a religion or by converting into Judaism, as we saw this week in the historic rulings on recognising non-Orthodox conversions - https://jewishnews.timesofisrael.com/voice-of-the-jewish-news-who-is-a-jew-israel-opens-up-the-debate/
